Growing up...

They say that all humans once upon a time were supernaturals. That somehow creatures of magic had children who were born without it for whatever reason. At first they were feared as a curse upon their parents and the world around them. The people of the world thought they meant the end of magic on Asmiara. Believing if they destroyed them this could be stopped they later learned it made no difference to the scheme of things. By then many humans had fled out into the world creating their own kingdoms.

Some returned to the supernatural kingdoms and rejoined with them, others vanished from the face of the world, and others became they own kingdoms and have survived to this day. It was in one of these kingdoms that Kiris was born. She was born the daughter of a slave master. While the practice of slavery isn't actually allowed in her home land many people practice it behind the scenes.

She never knew whom her real mother was no one ever told her. It could have been one of the many slaves or servants that had come and go from the house. Some said it was a lover of her father who left her at his door as a child. The truth being something that no one knew or if they did they didn't reveal it to her.

She was not a treasured child to her father but a means to an end. Another slave to some day sell. Her father had many and they came and went often and some of the slaves were his own children. He didn't care he would sleep with his slaves even those that might be his own family. He grew bored and would sell them. However, Kirsi was different.

There was something about her. She had a strange coloring with hair that was a silvery blonde and eyes of blue. Her father knew someday she would fetch him a pretty penny so he keep her as close as he could to over see her training. However, the one thing she lacked was love. Slaves didn't have families most of them were taken from their mother's upon birth. They rarely if ever got to see them. A slave had no rights to even their own children. She grew up with the other kids watching this and feeling alone.

A New Home...

She grew up learning how to obey to listen to whomever would buy her someday. But, more than anything she longed to be free. She wished she could fly among the clouds and never come back. She wanted nothing more than to be her own person. To find her own love and to belong somewhere but she knew that a slave only had the identity that her master gave to her. It was when she turned 16 that she could come to finally get her first master. A man by the name of Yuriy.

Everyone knew his name. He was a man known for his treatment of his slaves. He was ruthless and controlling and no one ever escaped from him. They said once trained by Yuriy you would never return to yourself that you live and breath his commands or the commands of whomever he trained you for. Yuriy trained slaves for more than just himself. He made quite the enterprise of it.

It was her unique coloring and other factors that caused him to want to purchase her. He was curious to what might lay hidden within her DNA. Sometimes, the supernatural powers could lay dormant for many generations and could be come out later in appearance or powers that would manifest. He figured if he owned her he might be able to unravel the mystery.

He took her her home with him and began to train her to his likes and dislikes having every attention of keeping her long term. He broke her mind, body, and spirit making it so she couldn't even think of disobeying him. But, perhaps some spark remained of the girl that just wanted to fly enough that she keep dreaming. Dreaming dreams that he didn't give her permission to have.

A Light in the Darkest Places...

Yuriy couldn't unravel the mystery as nothing seemed to make complete sense to him. He thought that perhaps if they had a child together that child might have traits or powers that would help to unravel the mystery. He seemed to be fond of her at least he spent time with her. But, it might just be that he was curious and time was needed to produce a child.

She lived for what he told her to do. She couldn't go against his wishes and even if she wanted to run. Everyone knew he would find her. When she became pregnant with her first child she had mixed emotions. She was happy because she knew that she would always love her child. But, sad because she knew that a slave didn't have rights to their child. She couldn't raise him and all contact she had was at his father's wishes. He could send the child away and she couldn't do a damn thing. She wanted to close her hear to keep them both safe. But, found despite everything she just couldn't.

To her surprise his father seemed to love his child. He didn't train him as a slave but as his own son. Her son would have a future if he wasn't considered her child. As the son of a slave he would be nothing. As the son of a noble he would have every opportunity. Yuriy used him as a way to make sure she was good. He would let him see her only if she behaved.

Yet another nail in her coffin to obey her master. She lived for those moments despite the fact she often acted as if she didn't. She knew her son was closer to his father. He spent more time with him and it really was better that way. One day she would be sold as slaves often were and it would break his heart if they were too close. So, she watched him the best she could and watched as she longed for the life neither of them could have.

A Ray of Hope...

It was her daughter that would manage to make her break the cycle and muster enough courage to flee. She didn't want another child to be raised by Yuriy. She knew he loved his son but she could also see the boy being twisted like his father. While she loved him she knew he would be exactly what his father wanted. It was the only thing Yuriy knew was to control people and make them what he desired.

She knew that the only chance her unborn baby would have was if she let it out into the world to grow free from him. She had to hope it had enough of her nature to seek out freedom and her father's strength to find her own way. She also knew that if she ran he would find her. He always found the ones that left. It was never about escaping forever. She only needed to leave for long enough.

So, she set out making a plan to leave and to hide in a whore house. A whore having a baby wouldn't raise any alarms. She knew that babies born in such places were taken away. They were nameless faceless children that often gave themselves names and whose child it was would be unknown. If Yuriy found her finding his child would be near impossible.

She tried to leave without Dekel finding out. She knew that he loved his father more and that he was better off. What kind of life would he have if he did go with her. Besides, he might get hurt out there without protection and what kind of protection could a slave offer. Hell, she couldn't even offer him shelter or food. She wouldn't risk it. Even if every fiber of her being wanted to take him too.

She also knew that Yuriy would find them quicker if she had his son. He would put all his resources into it. Her son would see her and try to follow her. She can still hear his cries as he tried to catch up with her. His little legs trying to catch his momma. She couldn't believe for one moment he would prefer her. It was only that she was leaving and he didn't want to lose something. She also couldn't do that to him. So, despite all the pain it caused her and him she walked away and didn't look back.

Home Again...

She managed to stay there lost long enough to give birth to her daughter. A daughter that was taken to be raised with all the other kids born in such places. She could only hope that she would find her way despite where she was being raised and hope was better than none. Yuriy found her and took her home. He was upset about what she had done and she was punished. However, no one could punish her for her crimes. She could tell she had hurt her son that and the lost of her daughter drove her to madness.

She withdrew inside herself refusing to believe anytime had moved on. If she stayed in the past she could make amends for leaving. She would never leave this place she would stay where she was a good mom and never move past that point. She refused to eat wanting to die and leave this world. She refused for anyone but Dekel.

A part of her knew who he was despite the passage of time and her broken fractured mind. And for her son she couldn't refuse. She lives for his visits. The only person she really talks to or does things for. She listens to Yuriy and obeys but more like a machine on auto. With Dekel she interacts even if she is lost in the past. He can get her to eat and she talks to him, tells him stories and allows herself to for a few moments to be at peace. She knows that he will never forgive her and she doesn't deserve it.

She doesn't know what has happened to her daughter. She can only hope she had a good life and managed to be happy. She hopes she isn't still in the whore house. She hopes she managed to escape and make her mark on the world. Perhaps, her daughter did the one thing her mother never managed. Perhaps, she learned how to fly.
